Success

Yesterday's luncheon was a success! What a relief. There was minor tackiness from Carter, but that was to be expected, if any of you know Carter, you'll agree.

I need to inform everyone that the best bakery/dessertery in Atlanta is located in the Highlands, Alon's Bakery. April's cake was from there yesterday, and I can't even begin to describe the yummy goodness that it was. I don't like cake, but this was a mousse cake, c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y wonderful.

I was thinking this morning that I would blow everyone away if I had a book published. Not that I would pull off a Hemmingway or Tolstoy, but maybe a Judy Blume, if I'm particularly creative. I think a book would be a shiny spot in my otherwise average world. Just a thought, might expound on it later.

I'm still tired, even though I went to bed at 10:30. And I didn't even read last night! That really throws off my schedule apparently! I'm simultaneously reading two books; a chick lit book at home, and "The Namesake" at work/travel. Don't get me wrong, I don't come to work, plop down and read all day. I keep a book in my bag so that I can catch a few pages between committee meetings or particularly argumentative floor debates. It's a good system, in my opinion. It's funny to realize that I've begun to love reading. As a kid (technically, until I graduated college) you couldn't get me to read if my life depended on it. In fact, I probably would have done 200% better in school had I, in fact, read my assignments. Especially if I had read them more that 20 minutes before the class started, and if I had actually read them, and not skimmed them. Oh, hindsight, you are 20-20.

El blog-o numero uno

So I deleted my MySpace account, but I'm now suffering from Blog withdrawls. In all my genius, I found this site and voila (!) here's my blog.

Today at 12:00 noon, the first event I've planned as a lobbyist will take place. It's the Senate intern/aide luncheon. It seems like it should be no big deal, they're just kids right? If only. Last year, we started a tradition of hosting the event at the Capital City Club. The person with whom I have to plan this event is a member of the Club, therefore granting us access to use its facilities. However, this person- I shall call her Carter- has been less than helpful and more than bothersome. It has been a minor hassle for me to organize, considering what little information Carter has provided me. Regardless, the luncheon will happen in T-minus 3 hours. Did I mention that in addition to the interns and aides, the Senate Democratic and Republican leadership will be there? To include the Lt. Governor. Not to mention my two bosses will be there. Needless to say, I'm a tad bit on the nervous/queasy/anxious side. I've touted the event as a 'fun, relaxed, nice way for the leadership to thank the interns and aides' but it's a minor ulcer for me.

Also, today is April's birthday, so we're having yummy treats from Alon's Bakery at some point this morning. Cake and Coke for breakfast, ain't life grand?!

As far as my personal life goes, it goes well. James and I are doing well, and it's almost summer. I'm hoping to start excersizing on a regular basis next week, as I am purchasing a new road bike this weekend. And possibly a set of golf clubs. Libby and I have a deal that who ever drops a pant size first will buy lunch at La Madeleine. Shhhh, don't tell her I'm having cake and coke for breakfast!
